KINDLEWOOD FOLLOW “WAMMY” NOMINATED DESIDERIUM Limited Edition 7” Featured A Side B Exclusive Unedited Acoustic Version of “Mon Ami” WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington DC “gritty and delicate” (C-Ville Weekly) folk trio kindlewood follow their “WAMMY” nominated 2011 full length debut Desiderium with the single “Give & Take,” available digitally on April 24th and as a limited edition 7” featuring a Side B exclusive unedited acoustic version of “Mon Ami” beginning Friday, April 20th at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA. Recorded, mixed and produced by kindlewood, “Give & Take” was given a high polish with mastering by TW Walsh (Sufjan Stevens, Kristin Hersh, Richard Swift). Early this year, kindlewood was recognized by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) with a “WAMMY” nomination “Best Contemporary Folk Recording of 2011” for Desiderium and nominated by The Deli Magazine/DC for “Best Emerging Band” of 2011. Kindlewood’s sound is “marked by the pretty dulcet vocals of frontwoman Kelci Smith, sister to Fleet Foxes singer/guitarist J. Tillman and Pearly Gate Music's Zach Tillman.” (-Creative Loafing Tampa) But as Dallas’s Pegasus News notes, “Family ties aside, Kelci has proven herself an adept songwriter through and through.” Drawing inspiration from nature, art and fantasy and artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Feist and Jeff Buckley, she consistently showcases her extraordinary facility for nuance and color both lyrically and vocally. Kelci is backed by her husband, Galen Smith, and friend, Jamison Lyman. Galen and Jamison’s technical proficiency on the guitar and proclivity to fingerstyle picking provide the perfect landscape for Kelci’s imagery and are often times the catalysts for her inspiration. With the incorporation of assorted percussion and various instruments like the ukulele, Shruti box, harmonica and glockenspiel, the trio delivers “an enchanting bucolic sound” (– Musicalshapes blog) and a remarkable live performance. “ Kindlewood conjure an old, but not quite lost, Americana sound — one that's gentle and lush and soundtracks a quiet night.” – Tallahassee Democrat "Americana three-piece with a wild imagination rides the line between gritty and delicate" - C-Ville Weekly kindlewood is currently writing and recording the follow up to Desiderium due later this year.
